  • Abstract
    A novel optical label-swapping scheme using optical carrier suppression and separation (OCSS) technique without requiring any conventional wavelength converter is proposed and experimentally demonstrated in an optical label switched (OLS) network over 140-km transmission distance. The transmission performance for both 10-Gb/s differential phase-shift keying payload and 2.5-Gb/s on-off keying label and the effectiveness of the label-swapping scheme has been evaluated for a three-node OLS network.
