Abstract
An extension of the polarity coincidence (PC) method for estimating the center frequency of a power spectral density (PSD) is proposed. By applying Price´s theorem, the variance of this new estimator for Gaussian processes is evaluated. Its performance is compared and related to that of the averaged output of an ideal tuned FM receiver
