Abstract :
The authors introduce two different dibit extraction techniques that are simple to use, and more importantly they require no timing synchronization of the readback waveform with the written data sequence. They illustrate the use of these techniques using perpendicular recording readback signals corresponding to pseudorandom binary sequences (PRBS). As with other dibit extraction techniques, the nonlinearities in the signals show up as echoes around the main dibit.
