            Abstract : 
Applications for erbium-doped fiber optical amplifiers have been multiplying in recent years, and increasingly complex structures have been introduced. We review characteristics and design parameters, the use of interstage elements, and various digital transmissions systems applications for multi-stage amplifiers.
