Abstract :
The thermal relaxation process in interacting systems is characterized by transitions between metastable configurations of the entire array. Their rates are identified here for sample small particle arrays and the nonequilibrium initial DC susceptibility χ(t) is found from a master equation. The function χ(t) has multiexponential time dependence and may exhibit nonuniform approach to equilibrium
