Abstract
Coherent sidelobe cancellatio (CSLC) based o subarrays has emerged as a key technology for improving the performance of radar systems required to operate i the presence of severe interference hich generally includes clutter as ell as jamming. hile the theory of CSLC is ell kno n, practical issues such as ho to set up the subarrays and ho to avoid diminishing the desired signal he the clutter is rejected need to be addressed he it comes to implementing CSLC in operational radar systems. A ne adaptive ionospheric clutter suppressio algorithm based o subarrays for monostatic HF surface ave radar (HFS R) is introduced and analysed. Detailed comparisons bet ee the proposed algorithm and conventional CSLC are performed. Simulatio and real data results confirm that the general and robust algorithm can achieve effective ionospheric clutter suppression, hile not decreasing the strength of the first-order sea echo using the data recorded by the OSMAR2003 (Ocea State Monitor and Analysis Radar, manufactured i 2003), located near Zhousha i Zhejiang, China.
