Abstract :
A laboratory, bench top, single boundary electromagnetic separator has been used to separate the binary metal mixtures of Al/brass, Cu/brass and Cu/Al, each at three different sizes. Perfect separation has been achieved in eight oat of the nine cases and almost perfect separation in the ninth. The theory which models the operation of the separator in the configuration employed is shown to provide very good predictions of the beam splitter and field setting requirements for a successful separation
