Abstract :
Proposed herein is a new assembly for a large and low speed high power density electric motor. The new design scheme is conceptually relevant to the functional nature of the electromagnetic hammer. This motor is considered to be of the switched repulsion motor class. However, it is distinguished in its ironless core assembly that provides desirable high power density characteristics. Using advanced power electronics and dynamic feedback control schemes, the motor is configured in two spinning shafts: one for the load; and the other for controls. The concept of the new design is tested on a simulator for its functionality and validity of control schemes
