Abstract :
The effects of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) with frequencies varying from 36 to 55 GHz on the bioluminescent activity of bacteria were investigated. EMFs resulted in a decrease of bioluminescence which depended on frequency. The time of adaptation of cells to the electromagnetic field was longer than the intrinsic temporal parameters of the bioluminescent system. The effect had a nonthermal nature. It was found that disturbances of the geomagnetic field (magnetic storms) resulted in an increase of bioluminescence
