Abstract :
A new electronic scanning spatial multiplexing technique based on a digital image processing system and a noniterative phase retrieval and tracing algorithm is presented. It greatly reduces the number of optical devices in the network, and thus the overall cost of the system, and allows the favorable characteristics of optical fiber to be fully utilized in sensing applications. Experimental results for quasi-static and dynamic strain measurements have been obtained to assess the feasibility and performance of the system.<>
