Abstract :
The thin film head which adopted inorganic insulators and lapping after each deposition process has been found to exhibit high performance. Taking advantage of the unique features of this fabrication process, new thin film heads were developed for the purpose of industrial application of thin film head to VCR. The new heads have a lower impedance and a larger gap depth maintaining improved transfer characteristics, which leads to high wear resistance and high reliability. These features resulted from the relatively thick magnetic layers and 3-layer Cu coils which became possible by the fabrication process described above
