Abstract :
The effect of the magnetic anistropy of a Ni-Fe keeper layer on the recording performance of longitudinal Co-Cr-Ta/Cr thin film media was investigated. The output was found to increase and the noise to decrease when the easy axis direction of the Ni-Fe layer was along the radial direction of the recording track. The recording properties correlated well with the anisotropic magnetic properties of the Ni-Fe keeper layer
