Abstract :
This paper describes an index for judging the severity of transient events in simulation. The integral square generator angle (ISGA) index strongly penalizes diverging generators but also accounts for steady-state transfer levels. This paper presents decision trees (DTs) and the ISGA index for contingency ranking and screening. Then, the ISGA is demonstrated for finding combinations of discontinuous feedforward controls to stabilize an event.
