Abstract :
This paper discusses correlations between parameters used in two mathematical models of hysteresis, obtained by fitting δM curves, and reverse DC erase noise measured for several particulate magnetic recording tapes. For each model, correlations are examined for a parameter that controls long range interactions and a parameter that hypothetically controls short range interactions or fluctuations. Strong correlation with noise measured at the saturated remanent state is found for the parameters controlling long range interactions, but no correlation with noise measured at the zero remanent state is found for the parameters that are supposed to control fluctuations
