Abstract :
Optical discs are popular for exchanging and distributing content. A small Portable Blue disc with a diameter of 30 mm stores at least 1 GB in a single layer using Blu-ray Disc technology. We describe strategies to achieve low power consumption in a Portable Blue system. Estimates show a value around 1/20 of the peak power (∼1 W) while streaming 1 Mb/s data.
