Abstract :
The magneto-optical Faraday effect in discontinuous magnetic media was analyzed by employing the matrix approach method. The discontinuous media have a one-dimensional array structure composed of magnetic materials (width DM) and air gaps (width DG) which are aligned alternately. The analysis reveals that, when the medium meets the condition of DM<λ<2(DM+D G), the Faraday spectrum varies considerably due to the discontinuous structure
