Abstract :
The formation and magnetic properties of metastable TbCu7-type disordered compounds in rapidly quenched (Fe1-xCox)17Sm2 (0 ¿ x ¿ 1.0) alloys were investigated by X-ray diffraction and thermo-magnetic analysis. The disordered compound was formed in a single phase in the range 0.5 ¿ x ¿ 1.0 at a disk speed of 42 m/s. The disordered phase is magnetically harder than the ordered phase with a Th2Zn17 structure.
