Abstract
In order to reduce core losses in amorphous cut cores with air gaps, the effects of ferrite plates attached to the cut surfaces of the cores were investigated. It was learned that the attachment of thin ferrite plates decreases the core loss remarkably in such cores. It was also discovered that this method of reducing core loss is effective for magnetic induction levels up to 0.1 T. Computer simulation of the leakage flux in an amorphous cut core with air gaps suggests that this reduction is attributable to a decrease in the leakage flux perpendicular to the amorphous ribbon surfaces due to the attachment of the ferrite plates.
