Abstract
We numerically investigate the amplitude-noise and the timing jitter of pulses obtained by slicing coherent supercontinuum spectra. Applications such as time-division-multiplexing/wavelength-division-multiplexing systems and all-optical data regeneration are addressed. System parameters for optimizing the quality of sliced pulses are also discussed. We show that supercontinuum generation is a suitable method for generating amplitude-stable pulses and that no timing jitter is associated to the sliced pulses.
