Abstract :
Vibration problems which occur after some considerable period of operation are often solved by simply replacing or repairing worm system components. This may reduce the vibration to tolerable levels but does not eliminate the basic cause for the vibration having developed. The vibration usually recurs after the same or a shorter period of operation following each subsequent replacement/repair. The approach which was taken to Identify the cause of such a typical vibration problem Is described and the modifications which were made to the system. These modifications have eliminated the problem and prevented its reoccurence.
