Abstract
These experiments were carried out to investigate the effects of the composition and annealing conditions on the magnetic properties of isotropic cast (Pr, Dy)-(Fe, Co)-(B, C) alloys. Compositions were Pr15 Fe77 B8 , Pr15 (Fe0.9 Co0.1 )77 (B1-x Cx )8 , and (Pr0.9 Dy0.05 )15 (Fe0.9 -Co0.1 )77 (B0.5 C0.5 )8 , In Pr15 (Fe0.9 Co0.1 )77 (B1-x Cx )8 alloys, the value of HCJ increased with increasing carbon substitution in the range x=0 to 0.5. Of these cast alloys, (Pr0.95 Dy0.05 )15 (Fe0.9 Co0.1 )77 (B0.5 Co0.5 )8 alloy annealed for 5 hours at 800°C exhibited the best magnetic properties, with (BH)max =38.4 kJ/m3, HCJ =392 kA/m, HCB =248 kA/m and Br =0.54 T. EDX analysis revealed that this alloys consists of two phases: a (Pr,Dy)-rich phase, and a (Pr,Dy)2 (Fe,Co)14 (B,C) phase.
