Abstract :
Tb/Fe multilayer films with Fe/Tb layer thickness ratios of 1/1 and 1/2 were prepared on glass substrate by rf sputtering. The Fe layers were poly-crystalline when their thickness dFe was greater than 17 Ã
. When dFe was less than or near 17 Ã
, the Fe layer became amorphous. Films with dFe=17 Ã
exhibited small magnetizations and spin glass-like magnetization curves, because of the antiferromagnetic nature of amorphous Fe. Magnetic properties changed as a result of changes in the crystallographic structure.
