Abstract :
This paper describes a new type of electromagnetic pump, based on the shielding effect of eddy currents. FEM analyses and experiments suggest that leakage flux in the magnetic path is suppressed and the effective flux in the gap increases. Through comparisons with existing electromagnetic pumps, we found the pump thrust to be increased by 1.8 times. In this paper, the construction of the electromagnetic pump is discussed, and characteristics unique to our pump are described.
