Abstract :
A planar derivative of dielectric rod antenna is demonstrated in the 94-GHz range. It is directly fed by substrate integrated image guide (SIIG), a low-loss dielectric waveguide in planar form. Compact integrated fabrication of the antenna and the feed line on a single substrate thus becomes feasible at low cost. Simulation and measurement results of an experimental prototype are presented. The antenna provides attractive attributes such as medium gain, high radiation efficiency, broad bandwidth, and almost frequency-independent main lobe direction
