Abstract
A method for estimating the residual magnetization in a magnetic substance is proposed. This method is based on inverse analysis using the three-dimensional boundary element method. The distribution of the residual magnetization is calculated on the basis of the measured flux density near the surface. In this paper, singularities in the system equations for a simple problem are examined. This method is applied to a model of a permanent magnet; the results indicate that our method is useful for the estimation of residual magnetization.
