Abstract
In this paper, queuing models are introduced for evaluation of the performance and design of the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. Emphasis is placed on the applications of the queuing theory to the design and analysis of the system. Two SCADA systems were implemented and evaluated. Based on the concept of concurrent processing, a two-processor-based SCADA system is presented and discussed. The results of this analysis imply that a cost/performance close to the optimum may be achieved by the use of queuing models.
