Abstract :
A new high-speed transistor switching device was developed, using either a YBa2Cu3O7-x or a BiSrCaCuO high-temperature oxide superconducting bulk core at 77K. The device is capable of switching with a turn-on time (¿on) of 0.2 s and a turn-off time (¿off) of 0.2 s, when using a 1 A power transistor. These values are about 1/10 to 1/100 times shorter than the values of a transistor switching device with an amorphous ferromagnetic core. The improved switching speed can be attributed to the Meissner effect of the superconducting bulk core.
