Abstract :
Unrepeatered transmission at 40 Gbit/s (16×2.5 Gbit/s) is demonstrated over 427 km of non-dispersion shifted fibre, with remote amplification, dispersion compensation and forward error correction. The transmission distance is extended to 450 km at 20 (8×2.5) and 475 km at 10 Gbit/s (4×2.5 Gbit/s)
