Abstract
The paper deals with the transient analysis of a de series motor, controlled by a chopper with time-ratio control (TRC) or current-limit (CLC) control with square-wave output voltage. Three methods of transient analysis are derived for TRC control and compared with regard to accuracy and usefulness. The methods require much less computation time than is necessary for a step-by-step solution of the system differential equations, for different intervals of the chopper cycle. Two of the methods can be used for deriving transfer functions of the time-ratio chopper-controlled de series motor for small-signal perturbations around a steady-state point.
