Abstract
A V-grooved single-mode optical fiber is proposed as a multipoint liquid detection sensor, and its feasibility is demonstrated using optical time domain reflectometry (OTDR). The optical mode is affected by an external medium covering the V-grooved region due to the exposed fiber core. As a result, it is possible to detect the leakage of liquid and position of events through monitoring the transmission and reflection signal of OTDR.
