Abstract :
This letter proposes a fast approach to calculate the power oscillation peak value on AC tie-line after HVDC commutation failure. The proposed approach does not require modeling power system components in detail for dynamic simulation and is especially suitable for practical bulk power systems. It is useful to help operators rapidly assess the system stability margin after commutation failures. The proposed approach has been implemented on a practical system in China.
