Abstract :
A method for investigating both global and local dynamics of internally resonant oscillators of any order is presented. It rests mainly on a first-approximation mode separation technique, which makes it possible to derive, from the starting time-domain model, a set of differential equations in the amplitudes and phases of the predominant signal spectral components. The steps in the procedure for the actual application to particular cases are rather straightforward, as illustrated by the example worked out (a 1:3 two-resonator oscillator)
