Abstract :
Electrical loss of an ac electromagnet with shading coil is analyzed by considering the eddy current in the silicon steel sheets of the laminated cores. That is carried out by the 3-D finite element method on a parallel computing system. It is clarified that the consideration of eddy current in the silicon steel sheets is important for the electrical loss of ac electromagnets with shading coil.
