Abstract :
The paper discusses two-and three-level types of pulse-width modulation and presents a method of translating the frequency-spectrum characteristics of a pulsewidth-modulated inverter into its output filter kVA characteristics. The effect of the modulation scheme on the kVA ratings of the inverter and its transformer are also discussed. This procedure presents a better picture of the effectiveness of the pulsewidth modulation schemes.
