Abstract :
A modular evaluation/development system suitable for different microprocessors is described. The major sources of hardware expense in an evaluation system are the support hardware such as RAM, PROM, and I/O interfaces and devices, which are duplicated in each different evaluation system. Additionally, although most systems contain some software in the form of a simple operating system or monitor, familiarization with the use of each can be very time-consuming. A modular approach to the design of both the hardware and software of an evaluation/development system is presented.
