Abstract :
A practically independent intensity modulation arrangement is demonstrated based on two standard LiNbO3 electro-optical modulators (EOM) in a serial polarisation diversity (SPD) structure. Polarisation reduction from the typical values over 30-50 dB to levels <0.5 dB has been achieved. This technique has a potential application in header rewriting in subcarrier multiplexed label swapping networks.
