Feasibility of local location agents at radio access networks for future cellular systems

The addition of local location agents at radio access networks for future cellular systems to enhance location management and paging functions is proposed. Their feasibility, based on current specifications, is shown and their performance evaluated. The numerical results show that the proposed strategy significantly reduces the mobility management cost compared with the current strategy.
