Abstract :
A new prototype BaF2-TMAE (tetrakis dimethyl-aminoethylene) detector has been developed for use in a positron camera. Results of projection imaging are presented. The projection images obtained with the 100-cm2 sensitive area detector represent the first occasion a distributed source has been used in conjunction with a BaF2-TMAE detector for positron imaging. This is also the first result of 5-ns timing, 5-mm detector resolution and an efficiency of 20%, with the same chamber operating conditions. The chamber can operate in a stable condition for periods of several hours
