Abstract :
Taking into consideration the anisotropic properties of magnetic materials at the design stage can lead to considerable saving of energy and material. Conventional methods of investigating the magnetic anisotropy of electrical sheets consist only of taking appropriate measurements in the Epstein 25 cm test frame. The author presents another instrumentation for electrical steels, amorphous laminations and microcrystalline tapes. The angular dependencies proposed show very useful changes of particular anisotropic properties under the influence of the magnetising direction. The data obtained prove that many materials show such a degree of anisotropy that energy saving calls for radical changes in the design of electrical machines and transformers.
