Abstract :
The optical novelty filter is a ferroelectric liquid crystal and amorphous silicon hybrid sensor. The authors describe configuration that allows the temporal comparison of images, one previously stored in the device, providing an electrical output quantifying the change or novelty between successive images. The device itself and a system for pattern error checking are described
