Abstract :
A tandem FEL consists of two conventional FEL oscillators separated by a drift section. The same e-beam drives both oscillators, and since the first oscillator, where conventional evolution occurs, pilots the behavior of the second, an interesting dynamic behavior arises. We discuss the dynamic aspects of the problem from low signal to saturation, analyze the efficiency of the device, and present preliminary design considerations
