Abstract :
In the late 20th century, there was an upward trend in the number of women entering the traditionally male dominated technology professions. Lately, this trend has not just stopped but has begun to slide downhill. If we are to combat this situation, society as a whole needs to take action. This paper discusses possible causes of this phenomenon, through a combination of the authors´ own experience in this field as well as interpretation of previously published research. It then details a recruitment and retention plan for universities and businesses, and describes some of the sociological changes that need to take place
