Abstract :
For the original article see ibid., vol.37, no.12, p.2067-73 (1989). The commenter asks the authors of the above-titled paper to explain how the data shown support their summarized result, where they state that ´the addition of more transputers will also reduce the computational time´. He also asks for clarification of the extent to which the configuration of the transputer network and/or the task sharing of the transputers was different in the different cases discussed. Finally, he asks if it is correct to assume that the transputers were on commercially available mass-produced boards and that the OCCAM software used was a standard (as opposed to custom) language package. The authors provide answers to all of the queries.<>
