Abstract :
It is pointed out that the quality of audio delivered by cable television systems is, generally, not as high as it could or should be. The reason for the reduced quality is a combination of concessions made to TV set performance and lack of consumer demand for a higher quality of audio signal. With the introduction of stereo television, followed by CD quality stereo equipment, the demand for improved quality audio signals on cable TV systems has increased. It is concluded that the cable and consumer electronics industries must work together to provide customers with the quality sound signals they are now demanding
