Abstract :
A study of three different modulation schemes for quantum key distribution employing frequency modulated light has been performed. Compatibility of the modulation schemes with the BB84 and B92 protocols is analysed. A new scheme using both phase (PM) and amplitude (AM) modulation is proposed. Classical measurements on the AM-AM and AM-PM systems are reported.
