Abstract :
A novel method is proposed for suppressing the excess noise caused by non-degenerate four-wave-mixing and RIN transfer between signal and pump lights in a forward pumped distributed Raman amplification system. Optical SNR and Q-factor improvements of 2.5 and 2.0 dB at a Raman gain of 7 dB, respectively, are successfully confirmed for L-band signals in a WDM transmission experiment over DSF.
