Abstract :
A new tuner design approach which leads to a two-band tuner, using only VHF varactor diodes and a discrete mixer/oscillator in each band is presented. This tuner provides performance equal to or better than that of today´s three- or four-band tuners, with much reduced component costs. This approach allows improved RF filter selectivity in the UHF and VHF bands, thus allowing a simple mixer design due to selectivity protection. A schematic diagram of the tuner is presented
