Abstract :
The authors have developed a new 9 inch CRT (cathode ray tube) with dichroic coating and magnetic focusing system with larger aperture lens, and have obtained high picture quality unprecedented for HDTV (high-definition television). The brightness and contrast have been improved by a multiple interference filter and a high brightness phosphor which is the most suitable for the interference filter. Using the dual dichroic coating, a higher color purity has been obtained for green that with direct-view type systems. High resolution has been achieved with the larger aperture lens
