Abstract :
A presentation is made of the possibility of replacing metallic patches by solar cells in planar antennas. To demonstrate the concept, a slot-fed microstrip antenna using solar cells instead of a copper patch has been realised and measured. The results show that the ´solar cell patches´ have characteristics equivalent to copper patches
