Abstract :
A class-E tuned-amplifier configuration using a finite DC-feed inductance instead of an RF choke and a shunt capacitor is presented. Such a configuration is suitable in low-frequency applications (up to about 500 kHz), especially those using a thyristor as an active device. The analysis is not restricted by the conventional assumption of an infinite QL (loaded QL factor) for the series-tuned circuit, yielding results as a function of Q L. The design-element values, the active-device stress, the power output, the power-output capability, the output harmonic content, and the effects of circuit-element variations on the amplifier performance are discussed and plotted
